How to become a writer - advice #6

And again about heroes! Calm down, I'm joking. Of course, the heroes are will be back but this post will be about conclusions in books and on taboo topics. So today's topic will be somewhat controversial.

Does the book should teach something? I think so, no matter whether it's a book for young people or adults, is the sci-fi or romance, the book should teach. But how put this message? Perhaps in the form of summaries or specific text? The first method is totally not recommend, why? Because as I previously wrote: The reader don't like to get answers to those will himself to her cause. In addition, such a summary would be subjective, the reader could not agree more, and even more - could therefore start to not like your book. The second way has its pros and cons but overall more advantages. Note that this message does not have to occur in one particular scene or sentence. I will cite here Stephen Kings quote: ,, Harry Potter is about confronting fears, finding inner strength and doing what is right in the face of adversity. Twilight is about how important it is to have a boyfriend. "Of course it isn't here for offend fans of twilight, because I read the book and it's pretty cool. it's just that ,, Harry Potter "behavior of the characters in all parts showed precisely this message.

Now about controversial topics. If you are not interested you don't need to read the rest of my post, because I will not write about anything else in this post.

Should you put in your works controversial elements? I will not give you a specific answer only show you advantages and disadvantages.

Tolerance in different countries variously looks, so alone you've got to answer the question whether the country where you intend to publish is sufficiently tolerant. If you are going to try to break the taboo that you must to be sure of it, and very brave. Nowadays, few people read, especially books in paper form, so there is a chance that these people are intelligent and tolerant but for this there is no certainty. Of course, if in your book will be such an element in the small form, everything should be fine. If one of your characters will gently flirt with someone of the same sex or will have a darker skin color, probably no one will notice. If you intend to create an entire saga you are in a good position. Why? If the first part will be a hit this if you write another part what will consisting mainly of controversial topics, true fans will always be there. Why at all afraid to write about such things? Well, in a backward society in which we live, many people don't have a clue about it, and thus afraid of this. What therefore? Such people are very hard to educate. You can meet with a wave of huge hate.
Personally I'm not afraid to write on topics, if someone is going to hate me then do but if even one person will change - for the better, of course - by me, it's worth it.

IN BRIEF:
-Book should carry the message but not in the form of summaries or specific doctrine,
-Placing controversial elements in the book be ready for a wave of indignation
